Comparatively recent events point to the fact that the manufacture of bombs to be used either by these Annamite revolutionaries or by revolutionaries in China has been attempted in Hongkong. In December, 1911, an accidental explosion, by which a Chinaman and 2 Chinese children were injured, occurred in a house in the Eastern District of Victoria. In January, 1912, a Chinese carpenter who was engaged to do some work in another house in the same district picked up a small bomb among some rubbish on the floor and dropped it on the tiled floor with the result that his right hand was shattered by the explosion which followed.
In both cases the premises had been rented by Chinese who disappeared after the explosions and were not traced. On the 11th. of September last a Chinese threw a bomb at another
Chinese in the street at Yaumati, Kowloon, and killed him. The murderer was hanged and the only motive for the crime was apparent- -ly a private quarrel. In January of this year an explosion occurr-
-ed in Taikok tsui, Kowloon, in a house rented by some Annamites who disappeared after the explosion. Two Chinese were injured. A quantity of chemicals, gun-cotton and other articles for the
manufacture of bombs were found on the premises.

From the information which the Police and the
French Consul have been able to obtain the manufacture of bombe in
Hongkong seems to have been abandoned after accident at Taikoktsui.
The French Consul states that he is satisfied that the bombs recent-
-ly used at Hanoi were made in Canton, under the superintendence of
• Chinese Military Officer. Monsieur Liebert avers that the
Annamite pretender, Kung Thé, is at present in Canton and that the
Chinese Authorities there sympathise actively with the revolutiona-
-ry movement against the Government of Indo-China and will do all they can to support it. He alleges that Sun-mei, the brother of Sun Yat-sen, is a strong supporter of the revolutionary movement.
Sun-mei resides at Macao whence arms are said to be smuggled for the
use of the revolutionaries.
